Example: Strengthen your workforce to avoid external corporatist culture becoming an internal problem.
Within some industry areas, Market Mechanisms sometimes stop working for a longer og shorter period of time. Companies no longer compete meaningfully on Product and Price. Instead, to a large extent, hidden 'corporatist logic' has started shaping decision-making processes. You don't want this to undermine decision-making in your own company.
Symptoms of corporatist culture, for example, can be seen sometimes during sales presentations. When people are not paying attention to how one product might outperform the competition. Instead, what seems to matter is 'who people know' or 'whether they are willing to credit the "right" person, who has the authority to clear the gatekeepers for approving a sale or project'. Formally, the person who is pointed to as an authority does not have a position which makes the logic rational, or he does have an important title, but it is clear that he is not very capable.
The 'corporatist logic' rarely stand completely alone. Decisions still require some level of justification. Yet increasingly, the quality of decision-making is only something like 60 percent of what it should be. Many times, when decisions are scrutinized, it becomes clear that targets have not been weighed properly against one another, and the reasoning can only be found on a superficial level. As an example in regard to 'sustainability', "clean" energy becomes a preference which is given far too much attention, or a provider has apparently been chosen simply because their website mentions "sustainable" repeatedly. It has little to do with concrete performance standards, such as ensuring a solution achieves CO₂ emissions below a specified threshold. Within a "woke" corporatist culture, oftentimes, companies marketing themselves as 'sustainable' are not competitive on actual sustainability metrics.
At a certain point the 'corporatist logic' has become so dominant that some staff within your company find it hard to accurately follow clear analysis and reasoning. Having grown accustomed to irrational decission-making in various situations, they now mainly recognize the hidden signs in a conversation. They have "learned" that rational arguments are secondary, as in several business conversations, they have engaged in, they have seen that what is really going on is that those who have not yet bowed to the hidden corporatist structure are being taught that "there is simply no other way to get anything done".
You need to catch corporatist decay entering your company as early as possible. I can help you detect such issues, strengthen your workforce, and coach individuals inside your company who hold too much or too little authority compared with their actual decision-making skills.
